WHY DOES
PETER DUTTON
SUCK?

ohgod2.jpg

It would take far too much time to make an exhaustive list of everything this diabolical lizard-potato-man hybrid has said or done that highlights why he sucks, so we've put together our collection of what we think are the main reasons.

ugh.jpg

Peter Dutton is racist.

Dutton's got a long history of fear mongering when it comes to POC, and apparently has no issues with straight up lying through his teeth about them as long as it gets the average Sky News reader/watcher's knickers in a twist.

He was firmly in the 'No' camp for the 2023 Indigenous Voice to Parliament referendum [1] He straight up walked out of Kevin Rudd's apology to the Stolen Generations in 2008, being so opposed to the government apologising he even threatened to resign over it. [2] BONUS: Then 15 years later, in 2023 he tried to say he's sorry for this petty tantrum - not by apologising, but by trying to justify his comments by saying it made him remember his time in the QLD Police Force because of violent incidents he attended involving First Nations people. [3] In 2010, after Liberal backbencher Wilson Tuckey said racist remarks such as calling Indigenous dancers who perform welcome to country ceremonies "grossly overweight" [4], Dutton quickly came to defend him, saying "I don't have any issue with what Wilson said frankly" [5]. In 2016 while he was Immigration Minister, he said that refugees "won’t be numerate or literate in their own language, let alone English" [6] and that "these people would be taking Australian jobs … they would languish in unemployment queues and on Medicare and the rest of it." [7] In 2016, Peter Dutton criticised Malcolm Fraser by saying that he made "mistakes" in granting "some people" visas [8] - when asked to clarify who he meant by "some people", he said those with "terrorist-related offences" who he then said are primarily "second and third generation Lebanese-Muslim background" [9]. BONUS: In 2023, he tried to do some damage control - not in the form of apologising for these comments, but (again) by trying to justify them, claiming he'd just been dealing with so many "radicalised" people from this community. [10] In 2018, he contributed to the media induced panic about African street gangs after the tragic murder of 19 year old Laa Chol, by blaming "Sudanese gangs" for the attack [11]. He claimed that people in Victoria were "scared to go out" at night because they're "being followed by these gangs... Of course, it's African gang violence." [12] BONUS: He said he was inspired to make these comments after hearing stories from his "friends in Melbourne" talking about people having their cars stolen by kids from a "particular" community, and that it "didn't come from a place of hatred" [13]... After finding the person behind this attack, the police released a statement saying Laa Chol's death had nothing to do with gangs or gang violence. [14] Despite wanting to "crack down" on asylum seekers from Asia and the Middle East, in 2018 Peter Dutton said White South African farmers “deserve special attention” and “need help from a civilised country like ours” to escape "horrific circumstances", calling them "the sorts of migrants that we want to bring into our country" [15].  South Africa rebutted these claims, stating that no portion of their population was in any danger. [16] SHOUT OUT: Former Senator Richard Di Natale summed it up very aptly: "There's no debate as far as I'm concerned, the bloke is an out-and-out racist," Senator Di Natale said. "According to Peter Dutton, if you're a white South African farmer you are going to make a great contribution, you're not going to bludge on welfare... if you're not white, you won't do any of those things." [17] Again in 2018 while he was the Minister for Home Affairs, Dutton accused Muslim community leaders of "[having] information, but [withholding] it from the police or intelligence agencies" about the Bourke Street terror attack [18]. After apprehending the person behind the attack, the AFP found there was no evidence of information about him being withheld [19]. He's said that having "Muslim candidates from Western Sydney" would be "a disaster". [20] He ignored chair of the Yothu Yindi Foundation, Djawa Yunupingu's offer to attend the 2024 Garma festival - the first Garma festival after the voice referendum (again, of which Peter Dutton made clear he was a firm "no" voter). "I wrote to the leader of the opposition a week ago. He hasn’t replied to me, I haven’t heard from him since. I wonder why?” Djawa Yunupingu told NITV. [21] Earlier in 2024, Peter Dutton wanted to ban refugees from Gaza from coming into Australia, claiming the majority of people in Gaza are terrorists or terrorist-sympathisers [22]. BONUS: after being slammed for his comments about refugees from Gaza, Dutton has doubled-down, saying having this view does not make him a racist [23] Despite blowing his dog-whistle with claims he was going to deport any non-citizens who commit serious or violent crimes, data from his time as Home Affairs Minister shows that more visas were cancelled under Section 501, while deportation fell - which only resulted in sending more people to detention centres for longer periods of time (during COVID, too), which then resulted in the re-opening of Christmas Island Detention Centre. [24] It's worth noting that a Section 501 is not related to serious or violent crimes, but rather outlines that "The Minister may refuse to grant a visa to a person if the person does not satisfy the Minister that the person passes the character test." [25] He was against laws that would have allowed refugees and asylum seekers to get medical treatment in Australia, because he believed they weren't actually sick [28]. Omfg ayway we're gonna end this section here - not because we've ran out of examples, but because we're still only on reason 1.

Peter Dutton is sexist & misogynistic.

If his track record with denying care to female asylum seekers while he was Home Minister & Immigration Minster is anything to go by, the only marginalised group Peter Dutton hates more than POCs is female POCs.

TW: MENTIONS OF RAPE

Despite recently saying he wouldn't change abortion laws if he were to win government [1], he's voted consistently against abortion rights for almost the entirety of his time as an MP. [2,3] He recently cracked the shits about other Liberal MPs sparking an abortion debate because "it'll cost us votes", and that they needed to show more "discipline" [4]. In 2015, while he was Immigration Minister, his department refused to allow Somali refugee 'Abyan' into Australia for an abortion after she became pregnant following being raped in detention on Nauru [5]. After the Government denied requests to give her medical attention multiple times [6] and the UN stepped in [7], she was transferred to Australia to have the procedure. Then 5 days later, Abyan was transferred back to Nauru. In a statement, Peter Dutton claimed this was because she told medical staff she no longer wanted to have the abortion - which has been found to be untrue [8]. Dutton also accused Abyan and advocates for refugees of exaggerating / lying about what had happened to her [8], as well as accusing refugees of running a “racket” [5]. In 2016, a refugee known as S99 was raped in detention on Nauru while unconscious and having a seizure. She became pregnant as a of the rape. [9] A lot of back and forth where Dutton denied her access to Australia for medical attention happened, sending her to have the abortion performed in Papua New Guinea [10] - a country where abortion is not only unsafe but illegal. S99’s case went to the federal court, where the judge ruled Dutton had breached his duty of care and that he needed to facilitate safe medical treatment. [11] All this apparently gave him inspiration for June 2019, when, as Home Affairs Minister, he said that refugee women in detention were lying about rape and requiring abortions as a way to try to scam the new Medevac laws, claiming they were were "trying it on" [12]. The Medevac laws were introduced in February 2019, and allowed critically ill asylum seekers in offshore detention to enter Australia for urgent medical treatment. Only 4 months later, Peter Dutton was trying to get the Medevac bill repealed [13]. BONUS: He was eventually successful in this, with the coalition repealing the Medevac bill in December 2019 [14]. In 2021, Peter Dutton filed a defamation lawsuit against refugee rights activist, Shane Bazzi, for tweeting the phrase "Peter Dutton is a rape apologist" along with a link and preview to an article with a quote from Dutton where he stated women in detention centres were making false rape claims. After initially ruling in Dutton's favour, Bazzi appealed and was successful - so yeah, even the court agrees [15]. Peter Dutton was aware of Brittany Higgins' rape accusations days prior to the media releasing the story, and told the PM's office about it [16]. When the story came out, Dutton said "My question is to the Prime Minister. When did the Prime Minister or the Prime Minister’s office become aware of allegations concerning sexual assault as broadcast by the Project in 2021?" [17] - for some reason he seems to have omitted that he was the one that tipped them off days earlier, though. Despite Dutton describing the rape of Brittany Higgins as “he said, she said” [16], a civil court ruled that Bruce Lehrman had raped Brittany Higgins and had told “outright lies” [18].

Peter Dutton is homophobic & transphobic

It would seem that Peter Dutton is going for the coveted "irrational hatred of marginalised groups" trifecta, because he seems to hate the LGBTQIA+ community, too. We think this is a bit rich coming from a man who has his mouth open like a blow up doll in every pic.

Dutton1.webp

Dutton has always voted against same-sex marriage [1]. In 2017 he admitted that his personal vote for marriage equality was "no", and that he "[encourages] people to do the same" [2] Dutton has always voted against increasing legal protection for LGBTQIA+ community [3]. Dutton has always voted against trans-rights [4]. Apparently forgetting his distaste for non-Christian religions, in 2022 he supported the Religious Discrimination Bill [5] - which was basically a bill they created to allow religious extremists a free pass to say offensive shit. This appears to tie in with his thoughts about those awful "extremist values" he's saying are "propaganda" that is "indoctrinating" school kids [6]... except when he says "extremism", he appears to mean educating children on inclusion, diversity and climate change science lol. In 2017, former Qantas CEO Alan Joyce, who also happens to be a gay man, voiced support for same-sex marriage. In response, Dutton told him to "stop throwing his weight around" and that he should instead "stick to knitting" [7]. While Defence Minister in 2021, he had a dummy-spit over the ADF holding a special morning tea for the International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination (IDAHOBIT), and went on to ban any diversity events in future that involved people wearing rainbow clothing, pins, or other apparel [8]. He went on to say that diversity events like this were supporting the "woke agenda” [9]... OK Trump 2.0 He also reckons that including a question in the next Census about sexual orientation is also part of the "woke agenda" [10]

We also think it's really funny that he hates gay people
but held a fancy-ass fundraiser at a "men's only" club,
which sounds pretty gay if you ask us.

Peter Dutton is a corrupt hypocrite.

You probably already guessed this one, but Dutton's done his fair share of pork-barreling and shady business dealings - which of course includes being Gina Rinehart's gimp in exchange for fancy fundraisers and trips on her private jet.

462641143_1298398094512465_6788325784717884256_n.jpg

He voted against creating a federal anti-corruption commission [1] While he was Home Affairs Minister, he entered into multiple government contracts with businesses being investigated by the AFP [2] In July 2018, the AFP told Dutton they were investigating businessman Mozammil “Mozu” Bhojani for bribing Nauruan officials - then just a few weeks later, Dutton still thought this guy’s company was the perfect fit for giving a detention centre contract [3] Despite the initial contract expiry date being 30 November 2018, they kept paying millions in taxpayer money to Mr Bhojani’s company [4] - to a total sum of $9.2 million [3]. PS - Mr Bhojani pled guilty to the corruption/bribery charges and was convicted in 2020 [4]. Also while Home Affairs minister, a company called Paladin was deemed a good choice for a $532 million contract to run the Manus Island detention centre, so the department did an audit to make sure they were legit… except they audited the wrong company [3]. Dutton was told of this massive error, and all he had to say for himself was he “noted” it [3]. They went ahead in giving Paladin the contract despite that they weren’t formally assessed [4]. Paladin was also being investigated by the AFP for bribery to PNG officials [3]. After the first year, Paladin was found to have breached the contract - but the Department of Home Affairs kept renewing it anyway [3]. In 2018, National Retail Association made a $1,500 donation to the Queensland LNP that was “to support Peter Dutton”. A few days later, Dutton himself fast-tracked a one-off $880,000 grant to the NRA. When pulled up on it, he said that the “baseless suggestion” that he would be influenced by a “lawful donation” was “false” and “defamatory” [6]. No defamation suits have been filed about that as far as we’re aware. Peter Dutton was accused of diverting grant money under the Safer Communities Fund to projects in electorates he had a political interest in [7]. He of course said this accusation was “absurd” and that the ABC Journalist who broke the story was lying [8], but documents show Dutton’s handwriting signing off on approving the projects [7]. Even though Dutton has accused Albanese of asking Qantas for upgrades and suggesting the NACC investigate him for it [8], he thinks it's fine when LNP members do it - even defending Senator Bridget Mackenzie for admitting she asks airlines for freebies on the regular [10]. He also confirmed in October 2024 that his office asked Gina Rinehart for free use of her private jet, justifying it by saying it was the “cheaper option for the taxpayer” [10]. We guess he means cheaper than the $23K of taxpayer money he spent on hiring a private jet to transport him to a News Corp event in June 2024 [11].

potatp.jpg

In summary, Peter Dutton seems totally void of empathy with no capacity for human emotion - so just a total psycho, really.

We’re a bit exhausted after composing this list and sources of all the downright depressingly diabolical (and seemingly psychopathic) stuff Peter Dutton has said and done, so here’s some more lighthearted points for a laugh.

Peter Dutton has always been vocal about wanting to be tough on drugs and wanting harsher sentences for drug offences [1]... and yet, when his son posted a snapchat holding an awfully suspicious tiny ziplock bag filled with white powder, which he captioned with “birthday treat”,
he said his son had made a “mistake” and it was a “private matter” [2].

TomDutton.jpg

After hitching a ride on Gina’s private jet to attend one of her expensive mining-cult parties,
he gave an embarrassing speech filled with mining propaganda that was so badly written that it could only have been penned by Gina herself [3].

embarassing.jpg

In 2023, Dutton criticised the Albanese government's handling of COVID and called it a “disaster” [4]. But the Morrison government was in power for most of the outbreak and he voted against treating the vaccine as urgent [5] lol.

dutton-the-chud.jpg

As you might have guessed by his close ties to real-life Hoggish Greedly (Gina Rinehart), Peter Dutton thinks climate change isn’t real.

He’s said that if elected, he’ll scrap Australia’s legally binding emissions targets and roll out nuclear energy [6].

Paul Keating then called him a charlatan and climate denialist over it [7], proving once again that Keating is a G.

But don't just take our word for it - here's what some other people have said about him:

“He’s an extremist and I don’t think he fits with modern Australia at all... He doesn’t seem to listen, he’s extremely conservative. I actually don’t think he’s that smart."

Mark McGowan
Former Premier of WA

"[In 50 years], I've never seen a public figure as mean or mean-spirited as Peter Dutton... [electors] have a chance to drive the political stake through his dark political heart ... and I hope they do."

Paul Keating
Former PM

"This bloke is all agro and no judgement... [it's] what he’s done all his life – just attack migrants... He’s basically Pauline Hanson without the personality.”

Minister for Education
